Tara sailboat mast

the very famous sailboat and scientific laboratory of 36M Tara, of the Foundation Tara Ocean, docked at the navy port quays service after its descent from the Rhône.

To follow him during his descent from the river, the 2 masts of the ship were loaded on trailers in order to arrive by road to Port Navy Service, before being rematal a few days later.

Each aluminum mast weighs more than 2 tons and is 27m high. Handling of this magnitude requires the arrival of the Médiaco company, and the intervention of our technicians in order to carry each mast by these 2 ends.

In a few days, Tara and her crew will set sail for Malaga and Gibraltar, but you can support their research and follow their expeditions by going to the site: www.fondationtaraocean.org

➡︎ History

Heroine Tara

After being imagined by Jean-Louis Étienne then by the great sailor Sir Peter Blake, it is under the impetus of the French stylist Agnès Troublé, also known as Agnès B., and her son Étienne Bourgois that the extraordinary schooner has continued his journey since 2003.

When they decide to take Tara, their intention is to continue Sir Peter Blake’s work in favor of the protection of the ocean. Tara, designed to navigate the polar regions, began her first trip to the ice in 2004 with an expedition to Greenland, then made an arctic drift in 2006.

Strengthened by an enriching collective experience, forged by striking encounters and unwavering friendships, the adventure of the Foundation Tara Océan then begins, driven by a passionate and committed team, both on land and at sea, mobilized by an irrepressible desire to serve oceanographic science and to share it with as many people as possible.
