The SNSM, your guardian angels at sea.
SNSM rescuers save an average of 6,000 lives every year.
The SNSM intervenes on request of Regional Operational Monitoring and Rescue Centers (Cross), carry out search operations at sea, assist ships in difficulty, assess the condition of the people to be rescued, give them first aid and bring the wounded and shipwrecked to land where other relief organizations take care of them.
The SNSM is the only approved organization dedicated to rescue at sea in France.
The regional operational surveillance and rescue centers are at the heart of the search and rescue system at sea.
their missions:
- Ensure permanent monitoring of distress devices;
- Receive and analyze distress messages;
- Plan search and rescue operations;
- Active and coordinate the most appropriate means to intervene: zone ships, lifeboats, helicopters, etc.
Why and how to help them?
SNSM is a non-profit association and therefore does not generate money.
The rescuers are all volunteers. However, they ensure the safety of boaters and risk their lives daily for free. However, the costs to maintain the rescue stars are very real and important, the equipment also requires investments as well as regular maintenance.
Sea rescuers need you. Become a volunteer or donate, Help them save lives this summer!
Port Navy Service is proud to support the SNSM.
